Saint Lazar’s fair and Canestrello feast in Brugnato

In the historical centre of Brugnato, every 13th March, we celebrate the Saint Lazar's fair and the Canestrello feast. Saint Lazar's fair has ancient roots, in fact it comes directly from the XVI century. In 1559, Brugnato, a devoted follower of Genoa Government, obtained from the Holy State the permission of organizing market which became tradition soon; it consists in a fair that takes place on the 5th sunday of Lent. There can be found typical sweets from Brugnato, as the Canestrello, made of fennel-flavoured sweet mixture, well known in Liguria and made by local bakeries.

Sea festival/Saint Jacob festival in Levanto

It consists in a beautiful medieval historical procession about old traditions of Da Passano family, famous Levanto lords. After the procession ther'll be a flag-weaving show, dances, medieval music. Then we'll have the huge Christs parade, representations brought by ligurian brotherhoods. In the end, Saint Jacob's statue will be carried in the gulf, enlightened by lots of lights, it all will be followed by a firework-display.

Mussel festival in Cadimare

Every week of the month, mutual aid association from Cadimare (La Spezia), organizes the mussel festival. The proceeds of the sales will be devolved to the sea-village that will finance the Palio del Golfo competition. Best-known dishes: spaghetti with mussels, marinade mussels, filled mussels, mussels-pancake. There will also be live music for free. The festival will take place on the sea-shore.

The town gets enlightened and Saint Erasmo's statue gets moved to the wharf and then moved by the sea to the main Lerici beach. In the end there will be a firework-display.
Event/fair "Il palio del golfo" in La Spezia

It consists in a rowing-boat race in La Spezia, it is considered the most important local competition. The event develops in 3 days: the traditional sea-towns parade on Friday evening, the boats weighing on Saturday evening and then the competition itself on Sunday afternoon. The competition is divided into 3 categories: women, senior, junior. On Sunday evening there will be a big firework-display.
